Hito

Hito is a Japanese, Berlin based, electronic music artist and vinyl DJ with a wildly unique style and aesthetic. 

Born and raised in Himeji, Japan, she is loved for her sophisticated record collection, deep techno style, and her incredible ability to entertain crowds with charm and energy.

We caught up Hito ahead of her set at the Lost Horizon Spring Season Launch Party

I am good to be with my family in Japan ; ) Enjoy the family time and Japan!! 

Let's just say that 2020 has been 'different'... with no IRL festivals or clubs to speak of, what have you been up to?

I try to tidy up myself first. I totally forget many stuff of my life so I am working on my life first then Music, DJ, production etc.. 

What 2020 lacked IRL it has made up for digitally, can you give us your personal 2020 performance highlight?

I had not that much opportunity me to play around but I really enjoyed most of my streaming set. Specially I feel very relaxed to play my studio with my original set up. I have done for many streaming shows in 2020. 

Lost Horizon has given artists such as yourself a stage to play on while the real ones are closed.. can you tell us about your experience in there? How does the feeling compare to a real life show?

I really enjoyed for the visuals and avatar who enjoy the dance floor still really fun to see!! 

Give us your take on the future for clubs, festivals and gigs? Do you think they will recover well and run in the same way as before?

I really hope so.. it won't be so difficult people to be back on the decks and as same as dance floor! 

We've seen some artists saying that the isolation periods that 2020 forced upon us were actually really beneficial for their creative process... would you concur? If so, tell us about your creative experiences?

I think just matter of your time. If you are creative, you are always creative whenever and however you are. We have especially hard time because of this pandemic situation, so maybe some artists has more time to be productive or creative. I had more time for me and for my family to come back to my roots and realise myself.

Now we cannot wait to party with you this weekend... can you sum up in 3 words what to expect from your set?

What does the future hold for you?

I am making the first my music video. I would love to spread many as possible to share my home town and my moment of beauty with tracks and visuals soon in the future.

The Lost Horizon Spring Season launch party kicks off at 7pm GMT on Saturday 13th March. A A 4h set with DJ Sneak is followed by an exclusive virtual afterparty featuring German electronic Music DJ, recording artist and label owner Matthias Tanzmann and Hito.
