Meet Jaden Thompson
Jaden Thompson has firmly placed himself in the running as one of U.K. dance music’s rising stars after garnering support from club heavyweights The Martinez Brothers, Pete Tong and Seth Troxler. Listed as one of Billboard’s Emerging Artists of 2020, his Prima Lux mix for WWD was RA’s mix of the day last September, and EARMILK selected ‘Closer’ as one of the best dance tracks of 2020.
Jaden is supporting The Martinez Brothers at our show on Saturday night, and released his EP Closer on Friday. We caught up with him ahead of the show.
Yes Jaden! How are you today?
Great thanks!
There are no doubts that the last 12 months have been nothing short of a madness, tell us how it's been for you as an emerging artist...
Yeah it’s been a stressful time, although I’ve managed to stay patient and productive. I’ve focussed mainly on developing my sound and stretching myself musically.
You're one of the most exciting new names in the game with some pretty heavyweight backing, and your new EP 'Closer' is hotly anticipated... can you tell us a bit more about?
I made the record last summer and it got signed to Cuttin’ Headz’ new imprint: Boogeyman. It’s been getting a great reaction and I’m looking forward to finally playing it out in the club.
The Lost Horizon virtual event complex has provided a stage and some turntables while the real world is on pause... what was your experience in there like?
It was quite surreal actually and an eye-opening experience to the future of livestreams - Definitely more engaging for fans.
Obviously you are known for your residency at fabric... how excited are you to get back to live gigs? And do you think that there is room for the virtual clubbing experience to exist alongside them?
Excited doesn’t even cut it - I’m buzzing! Yeah, I think VR clubbing could still work when things are back open, the same way people would listen to mixes - it’s a more interactive experience for fans that aren’t able to go out.
Is there anyone in the game right now that you would love to collaborate with?
Derrick Carter, Mr G, Kerri Chandler & Seth Troxler.
This Saturday we welcome The Martinez Brothers to Lost Horizon for a night of New York flavor and absolute dance floor bombs. Playing alongside them we have house music weapon Jaden Thompson as well as friends and B2B extraordinaires, Christian AB & Quest.
VR, PC ticket and multi-cam stream tickets are $10, and a season pass is just $20. The show will also be streamed live across the internet - sign up for streaming links.
